The GE C44ACi is a high-horsepower diesel-electric locomotive widely used in heavy-haul freight operations, particularly in Brazil by operators such as Vale. This highly detailed 3D model captures the locomotive’s distinctive cab shape, long hood, complex underframe plumbing, C-C truck bogies, and roof-mounted dynamic brake grids. The package includes two versions — a standard shell and a windowed/lights variant — making it ideal for scale dioramas, model railroad displays, and tabletop gaming. Print settings
FDM printing is recommended for the main body at 0.1–0.15 mm layer height; resin printing is advised for fine underframe details and bogie assemblies. Print the locomotive body horizontally on its side to minimize stair-stepping on the cab roof and hood surfaces. Supports are required under the cab overhang, walkway rails, and coupler assemblies. Use PLA or PETG at 15–20% infill for the shell; increase to 30–40% for structural bogie parts.
