Steam Locomotive Coal Tender 6-Axle STL 3D Print Model

The Steam Locomotive Coal Tender is a highly detailed 3D printable model of a classic six-axle coal and water tender designed to couple to a steam locomotive. The model features riveted boiler-style side panels, open coal bunker with sculpted coal load, dual exhaust stacks, cab front with headlamps and piping, hand brake mechanism, multi-spring bogies, and period-correct link-and-pin couplings on both ends. Ideal for model railway dioramas, tabletop displays, and scale modelling at approximately 1:35–1:87 gauge depending on print size. Supplied as a ZIP archive containing STL files ready for slicing.

Print settings

FDM printing is recommended for the large body panels and frame; resin printing is advised for the fine bogie springs, rivets, piping, and coal scatter details. Print the main body upright with the underframe face-down to minimise supports; bogies and fittings should be printed separately and glued after post-processing. Use supports for overhanging cab details and coupler hardware. Suggested infill 20–30% with a 0.1–0.2 mm layer height for best surface quality on rivet rows.
