Double Stack Intermodal Well Car STL 3D Print Model

The double stack railcar is a highly detailed 3D printable model of an intermodal well car designed to carry two stacked shipping containers, widely used in North American freight rail operations. The model includes two end variants — one with a hand brake wheel assembly and one with a window/lights cab-end configuration — along with full underframe detail, bogies, coupler assemblies, brake lines, and side sill panels. Suitable for scale model dioramas, tabletop layouts, or hobby rail displays, the model is provided in STL format ready for slicing. Multiple render views from all angles (front, rear, sides, top, and end-on) confirm the high level of prototype accuracy.

Print settings

FDM printing is recommended for the main car body, oriented horizontally on its side to minimize supports on the flat deck surfaces. Resin printing is advised for fine detail parts such as bogies, coupler knuckles, brake wheels, and end-of-car fittings. Use supports on overhanging underframe elements and coupler pockets. An infill of 20–30% with PLA or PETG is suitable for the car body; ABS may be used if post-painting is planned. Print end sections separately if bed size is a limiting factor.
