Steam Locomotive Tender Riveted Coal Car STL 3D Print Model

The steam locomotive tender is a highly detailed 3D model of a classic riveted coal and water tender car, designed to accompany a steam locomotive in a train consist. The model features intricate rivet detailing across the body panels, dual sandbox-style roof vents, a full underframe with bogies, brake rigging, journal boxes, and period-correct couplers on both ends. Suitable for scale modelling, dioramas, tabletop gaming, and display printing, it is provided as an STL file ready for slicing. Eight orthographic and isometric render views are included to assist with orientation and assembly planning.

Print settings

FDM printing is suitable for larger display scales (1:32 or bigger), while resin printing is recommended for fine detail such as rivets, brake rigging, and journal boxes. Print the main body upright or at a slight angle with supports under the underframe and roof vent overhangs; bogies can be printed separately flat on the bed. Use a 0.1–0.2 mm layer height, 20–30% infill, and PLA or PETG for the body shell; ABS or resin for small mechanical detail parts.
