Description
The Caterpillar 777 is a large off-highway rigid-frame mining dump truck widely used in open-pit mining and heavy earthmoving operations. This highly detailed 3D model captures the characteristic squared cab, louvred front grille, dual rear axle with four tyres, hydraulic hoist system, access ladders, handrails, engine bay components, and textured dump body floor with wear plates. Two versions are included: a windowless variant and a windowed/lights variant, offering flexibility for display or diorama use. Files are provided in STL format, ready for FDM or resin 3D printing at any scale.
Print settings
FDM printing is recommended for larger display scales (1:50 or bigger); resin printing is advised for smaller scales to preserve fine details such as the ladder rungs, hydraulic lines, and tyre tread. Print the main body and dump bed upright or at a slight rear tilt to minimise support contact on finished surfaces. Supports are required under the cab overhang, engine bay railings, and rear axle housings. An infill of 15–20% with a 0.2 mm layer height is sufficient for display purposes; increase infill to 40%+ if structural strength is needed. PLA or PLA+ is suitable for most applications.
