Print settings
FDM printing is recommended for larger display builds; resin (MSLA/DLP) is preferred for capturing fine surface detail on turbocharger housings, hose fittings, and bolt heads. Orient the engine block flat on its oil-pan face to minimize overhangs; supports will be needed for the turbo inlets, upper piping, and any undercut areas. Use 20–30% infill with a gyroid or grid pattern for a good strength-to-weight balance. PLA or ABS in dark grey or matte black, with metallic silver accents for pipes, will achieve a realistic factory finish.
